It was a huge day for Boston Celtics fans. Everything began with Wyc Grousbeck and the other owners selling shares of the team. Then the NBA Free Agency frenzy struck everyone within the organization. Derrick White was the first to receive a huge contract. 

Following then, it was Jayson Tatum’s chance to reap the benefits of his contributions to this organization. If everything goes right, a dynasty with him and Jaylen Brown may emerge in Boston.

Tatum is set to sign a $314 million contract with the Celtics, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. The All-NBA forward’s deal will run until the 2029-30 season. It will now be the richest contract ever signed in the league.

This NBA Free Agency extension is so absurd that it surpassed Jaylen Brown’s $304 million contract, which was considered the most at the time of signing. With this effort by Brad Stevens and the front management, the Celtics fan base went absolutely crazy online. There were numerous reactions, ranging from positive compliments to puzzled looks.

Jayson Tatum’s big deal is incomprehensible to most fans.

The first few reactions indicated the same thing. They were perplexed as to how the Celtics were able to pay Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown so much money in NBA free agency.

“Jaylen Brown: 5 years, 285 million. Jayson Tatum: 5 years, 314 million. Derrick White: 4 years, 126 million. Jrue Holiday: 4 years, 135 million. “Where are they getting this money from?” a perplexed admirer said.

Others were perplexed by the weight of the bag that the Celtics provided him, “$71.4 million: What Jayson Tatum will earn in the last season of his contract. “$77.8 million: Total NBA payroll for the 1983-84 season.”

The Celtics fans were thrilled that their best player remained in NBA Free Agency, “Jason Tatum getting his well-deserved bag from the Celtics as the contract extension is over $300 million, which is the largest deal in NBA history. This guy developed into one of the league’s best players and a champion this season!!”

A significant role in the Celtics’ success.This deal comes as no surprise. Tatum has led the Celtics since Kyrie Irving left. His collaboration with Jaylen Brown helped them eradicate a lot of negativity and improve their basketball skills. 2024 is the year they finally got over the hump and won the entire thing.

Now it is up to Tatum to fulfill his contract. Brown accomplished this accomplishment by fully dominating in the postseason, earning him the Bill Russell Finals MVP award. Tatum, on the other hand, has already made significant contributions to the Celtics. He is already a five-time All-Star and four-time All-NBA pick. His playmaking and scoring abilities will only improve as he approaches his prime.
