Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah officially announced the signing of defender Nacho from Real Madrid, with a 2-year contract.
Real Madrid captain Nacho has officially joined Al Qadsiah after ending his contract with the Spanish Royal Club. The medical examination was immediately conducted in Germany, right in the middle of the EURO.
A few days earlier, Nacho had announced his decision to leave, despite Real Madrid expressing their intention to extend his contract. Sharing about his choice, the 34-year-old defender said: “I am very grateful to Real Madrid. A few days ago, when I had not yet signed a contract with a new team, Real Madrid contacted me and said they were waiting for me to change my mind. I don’t need a grand farewell like Toni Kroos to know how much I am loved.
Nacho officially signs contract with new club Al Qadsiah
I have always been clear about my decision, if I do not end my career at Real Madrid, I do not want to face the club. I want a new, different experience. I have gone through many ups and downs, but this is what I wanted. Right now I am very happy.
Speaking about his decision to leave, Nacho admitted: “I could have stayed at the club for another year, but there was nothing left to win titles at Real Madrid. That doesn’t mean I lack ambition. I just think this is the right time, I am very calm and confident about my choice.”
Previously, Al Ittihad Club also made an offer to Nacho, wanting him to reunite with Karim Benzema. However, after some consideration, this player chose Al Qadsiah. In the Spanish national team shirt, Nacho and his teammates will face Georgia in the round of 16. If they go through, they will face Germany/Denmark in the quarter-finals.
