Golden Boy is an individual award founded by TuttoSport in 2003 to honor the year’s best young talents of the U21 age group.

On June 5, TuttoSport announced 100 nominations for the 2024 Golden Boy award. Nominations are ranked based on performance and playing time in the 2023/24 season.

MU disappointed last season, but two young talents Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo showed very impressive performances. Both were named by TuttoSport in the 2024 Golden Boy nomination.

Alejandro Garnacho was even ranked 3rd with a score of 90.0. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo ranked 7th with a score of 83.2.

Mainoo was chosen as the best star in the FA Cup season 2023/24. This young talent has also been called up by coach Southgate to the preliminary list of the England team to attend the EURO 2024 finals.

In addition to Garnacho and Mainoo, the Premier League also has 9 other young talents on the 2024 Golden Boy nomination list: Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace), Lewis Miley, Lewis Hall (Newcastle), Jack Hinshelwood, Evan Ferguson, Carlos Baleba, Facundo Buonanotte (Brighton), Wilson Odobert (Burnley) and Rico Lewis (Man City).

The star leading the 2024 Golden Boy Award nomination rankings is Lamine Yamal. Although only 16 years old, this young talent is already an important pillar for Barca with 50 appearances in all competitions last season. Yamal is currently with the Spanish team preparing for the EURO 2024 finals.

In addition to Yamal, Barca also has 3 other nominees: Pau Cubarsi, Gavi and Vitor Roque. Blaugrana and Brighton are the two clubs with the most representatives in TuttoSport ‘s nomination list (4 players).

In the 2023 season, the player who won the Golden Boy award is midfielder Jude Bellingham . This is the third English player to win this award, after Wayne Rooney (2004) and Raheem Sterling (2014).
