Manchester United Reportedly Eyeing Premier League Rival’s Striker for £60m Boost
In the wake of Anthony Martial’s departure from Old Trafford after nine years, Manchester United is on the hunt to fortify their striking options. With just Marcus Rashford and Ramsus Hojlund as recognized strikers on their roster, the Red Devils are considering a move to Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
Reports from The Mirror suggest that the £60 million-rated Brazilian has been under close watch by Manchester United scouts throughout the season and is a prime target for the summer transfer window. Cunha’s impressive tally of 12 Premier League goals and seven assists this season has caught the attention of United, with the 25-year-old fitting the profile sought by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos team overseeing the club’s football operations.
Manchester United appears willing to double Cunha’s current £60,000-a-week wage in their pursuit. However, West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus is also under consideration as an alternative option. Kudus, who previously played under manager Erik ten Hag at Ajax, is reportedly on Liverpool’s radar as well, especially with ongoing uncertainties surrounding the future of Mohammed Salah, who is linked with a move away from Anfield.
Aside from bolstering their attacking lineup, Manchester United is also preparing for defensive reinforcements following the confirmation of centre-back Raphael Varane’s departure from the club at the end of his contract this summer.
