Liverpool Poised to Fulfill Three-Year Pursuit with £34m Italian Star Signing

Three years after they were first connected to the Italian, Federico Chiesa of Juventus is supposedly the top candidate to join Liverpool.

The winger was supposedly initially targeted by Liverpool in 2021, when he was two years into a two-year loan from Fiorentina to Juventus.

With the Old Lady, he continued his brilliant form, and the Genoa native was a key member of Italy’s championship run at Wembley in Euro 2020.

Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claimed that the 23-year-old preferred to remain in Serie A and had no interest in joining the Premier League.

Chiesa, who made 37 appearances this season and finished with 10 goals and three assists, is now again being linked to a move to Anfield, two years after he exercised his £34 million buy option.

The 26-year-old’s deal with the Italian powerhouse Juventus is set to expire in the summer of 2025, and reports from February stated that the club had placed a £34 million price tag on his head.

The “front row” of the Chiesa race is Liverpool.

The Reds are reportedly in the “front row” to sign the winger, although Bayern Munich, AC Milan, Napoli, and Roma are also reportedly interested in him, according to Italian daily Tuttosport.

According to the article, Chiesa may stay until 2026, but negotiations between the club and his agent, Fali Ramadani, still need to make “considerable progress.”

Antonio Conte, the former manager of Chelsea and Tottenham, may take over at Napoli this summer, which is one element that could play a role.

According to reports, during his tenure as manager of the Nerazzurri from 2019 to 21, Conte attempted, but was unsuccessful, in bringing Chiesa to Roma. That means there may be a future endeavor in the works.

The addition of Thiago Motta as the new Juventus manager is another uncertainty. It’s unclear if Chiesa will remain at the Allianz Stadium for the upcoming campaign due to reports circulating in Italy suggesting the former Bologna manager may be considering other players.

Liverpool has a busy summer ahead of them.

Not just Juventus will be going through significant changes this summer. After almost nine years in leadership, Jurgen Klopp is leaving Liverpool, and the Reds are embarking on an uncertain new chapter.

Arne Slot will take over for the German, although it’s unclear what will happen to Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, who both have contracts expiring in 2025.

Liverpool transfer news: Federico Chiesa bid

Liverpool will undoubtedly search for a successor if forward Mohamed Salah were to depart, and the aggressive and quick Chiesa might be the right choice.

Juventus had losses of £80.7 million in the first half of the 2023–24 fiscal year, which likely indicates that the winger’s ban from European play this season had a significant financial impact on the team.

Due to an accounting scandal involving player transfers and salary payments that occurred in late 2022, the Serie A team was barred from participating in European competitions in 2023–2024. The summer for Juventus, Liverpool, and Chiesa is going to be interesting.
