Following an injury setback, Luke Shaw’s chances of being healthy for the FA Cup final are now “very small.”

Injuries have ruined Manchester United’s season. Despite his desire to avoid using it as an excuse, Erik ten Hag has spent a significant amount of the campaign essentially operating with one hand tied behind his back.

The FA Cup final is the only important game left for the Red Devils.

Before then, a few United players, like Lisandro Martinez, Marcus Rashford, and Harry Maguire (the latter two were back on the bench in midweek), may come off the injured list.

But Luke Shaw is now a serious doubt to participate in the Wembley extravaganza.

Ten Hag claims that the United player has experienced an injury setback. He now has a “very small” chance of qualifying for the FA Cup final.

Luke is a more intricate person. Let’s assume that there is currently less likelihood that he will succeed. However, that is still a very slim likelihood. ManUtd.com was told by Ten Hag.

“We need to determine how far away [from a return] he is after experiencing a setback.”

Ten Hag didn’t sound particularly optimistic about Shaw, even if he didn’t totally rule it out either. Although it was partially expected given his extended absence, it is undoubtedly a bitter blow.

Shaw would barely have more than a week to get back to match fitness even if he started training again right now. It wouldn’t be a good idea to start a rusty full-back against Manchester City. Even so, it would be good to have him as a replacement.

Shaw appears to be concentrating on getting better in time for the preseason at this stage. In the end, the sheer number of injuries sustained makes the entire campaign seem like a complete write-off.
