What Man United fan shouted at Marcus Rashford to prompt the England star into confronting disgruntled supporter at Old Trafford ahead of Newcastle clash

The insult that provoked Marcus Rashford to confront a member of the fans at Old Trafford on Wednesday evening has apparently been revealed.

The United star was warming up for Manchester United’s final Premier League home game of the season against Newcastle when he collided with a fan in the stands.

Footage released on social media showed the England international responding to cheers from one section of the fans when he returned to Erik ten Hag’s squad after an ιnjury.

United went on to put on one of their best performances of the season, defeating Eddie Howe’s side 3-2.

Rashford appeared later in the game as United looked to extend their lead after being linked with a move away from Old Trafford in the summer.

In one video from United’s midweek victory, Rashford exchanged words with a member of the crowd before going away from his teammates to the touchline during pre-match stretches.According to The Mirror, the supporter told the 26-year-old, who signed a new big contract with the club this summer, ‘If you wanna go, go!’.

Rashford is thought to have responded, ‘Why don’t you go?’ while pointing to the United crest on his warm-up shirt.

Rashford was eventually escorted away from the touchline by his teammates, with midfielder Christian Eriksen attempting to grab his arm and pull him away.

One supporter was overheard begging others sitting near a group of cameras to ‘just leave him [Rashford] alone.’

‘Don’t listen to him Rashford,’ a fan shouted as the Manchester United players returned to the dressing room after finishing their warm-up.

Supporters welcomed Rashford on as a second-half substitution in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle.

The Manchester United star has struggled this season, unable to match his 30-goal haul from the 2022-23 campaign.

Due to injuries and off-field troubles, the striker has only seven Premier League goals this season after 31 appearances.

Some United fans have criticized his performances on social media, with well-known YouTuber Mark Goldbridge chastising Rashford for his lack of form. After enduring online harassment, Rashford provided a troubling update on his situation, speaking out against’months of abuse’ and assuring followers that ‘enough was enough’.

One United fan wrote on X (previously Twitter): “The way Marcus Rashford is being treated is absolutely disgusting.” It is cruel. It is abuse.

The United forward responded, claiming he was tired of the abuse he had suffered in recent months. ‘Thank you for your support! It is abuse, and has been for some months. ‘Enough is enough,’ Rashford stated.

But it appears Rashford has continued to face criticism from United fans even inside Old Trafford, with the attacker appearing enraged by the comments made to him during Wednesday’s warm-up.

Earlier this season, the England star drew the anger of his manager Erik ten Hag after being spotted on a night out in Belfast, and then failing to show up to training, costing him a place in United’s FA Cup match against Newport County.
