Trent Alexander-Arnold has been persuaded by Emmanuel Petit to forego Real Madrid and remain at Liverpool for the summer. Carlo Ancelotti is trying to bolster his team even more, and the 25-year-old defender has recently been thinly connected with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Alexander-Arnold has made 26 appearances in the Premier League this season, tallying three goals and dishing out four assists. His contract at Anfield expires in 2025. However, since sustaining a severe knee injury in February, the England international has found it difficult to return to his previous level of performance. Since then, after suffering expensive losses to Crystal Palace and Everton, Jurgen Klopp’s team has eliminated itself from the title contest.

However, as Alexander-Arnold’s current contract is slated to expire at the end of the upcoming season, his future is somewhat questionable. Petit thinks the right-back should remain at his boyhood club even if he might be available for free in a year.

The Liverpool contracts of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk also expire in June 2025. In a March interview with talkSPORT, Peter Moore disclosed that Michael Edwards will give top priority to signing the three players to new contracts.
