According to reports, Liverpool is in the lead to capture Pedri, a star player for Barcelona who may be sold this summer.

Pedri, 21, has had a challenging few years due to injuries that have impeded his significant development; but, following more injury setbacks this season, he has begun to regain his form under Xavi. 

Prior to this, he was recognized as the European Championships Team of the Tournament in 2020 and won the prestigious Golden Boy title in 2021. He also took home the competition’s Best Young Player trophy.

Despite missing 19 games this season due to a hamstring injury, at 21 years old, he still ranks among the most skilled and experienced young players in Europe with 138 games played for Barcelona and 18 caps for Spain. 

He may be available this summer. The La Liga powerhouses have reportedly chosen to cash in on the midfield player because of the club’s financial difficulties, which have made it difficult for them to sign players unless they make some sells first, according to Marca (via TEAMtalk). 

Although the source claims Liverpool is winning the race to sign the Spanish midfielder, Arsenal is reportedly interested in the player. In addition, the reported price of £51.3 million is less than his market value of £68 million, suggesting that he might be a fantastic deal just waiting to be finalized. 

After all, Pedri is a top player who has been predicted to be terrific and would be a fantastic acquisition. Wataru Endo is also under doubt, and Thiago is going at the end of his current contract this summer.

Pedri has been in and out of the squad to offset his injury problems as Barcelona has struggled to retain their standing on the field and has a plethora of players following years of overspending. However, he was a part of the La Liga winning team the previous season, and his overall figures are still really good. 

Should he decide to leave the Catalan team, he has the potential to rise to stardom once more. He is in the upper percentiles per 90 for assists, projected assists, shot-creating actions, progressive passes, progressive carries, blocks, and passes attempted among midfielders in the top five leagues in Europe.

In 2023, Xavi remarked that Pedri bore a striking resemblance to the renowned Spanish player Andres Iniesta. He actually stated, “Andres had a continuity to the point that he is still playing, but he is talented and at Iniesta’s level.” 

Because he played for such a long time, Iniesta wins handily when we compare him to Pedri right now. He is, in my opinion, the best football talent Spain has ever produced. However, Pedri is excellent; he possesses a similar gift. And Liverpool would be in for a real treat with him.
