Only after the Championship team came back from being down 3-0 to force extra time and then had a late goal called out for offside did they not get the famous win.
United scored three goals in the first half that made it look like they would easily reach the final again, just like they did last year.
In the 71st minute, Ellis Simms scored to make it 1–1. With eleven minutes left, Callum O’Hare set up a tҺrilling finish.
Then, in extra time, Haji Wright kept his cool to score from the penalty spot.Antony was brought on just before Coventry’s first goal, but he didn’t do anything when the game went to a penalty shootout because Victor Torp’s goal in the 120th minute was ruled out for offside.
Casemiro, another Brazilian, took the first shot but it was saved. Then Wright scored to put Coventry ahead.
First, Diogo Dalot scored without any problems. Next, Torp put it into the top corner, and then Christian Eriksen Һit it low with United’s third. However, Andre Onana dove to his right to stop O’Hare’s shot.
Captain Fernandes beаt the goalie and put United ahead. Ben Sheaf then Һit the crossbar with a shot that went way over.
That meant Rasmus Hojlund had to step up and win it. As he ran off to celebrate, the Dane sent the goalie the wrong way.
But Antony is said to have put his hands to his ears and pointed them toward the Coventry end as he yelled at either their fans or some of their players.
