Arsenal Sets Sights on Alexander Isak and Michael Olise as Targets for Striker and Winger Positions

After Bayern Munich crushed their chances of making it to their first Champions League semi-final since 2009, Arsenal is looking to bolster Mikel Arteta’s team in the summer transfer window by adding a striker and winger.

With six games remaining in the Premier League title race, Arsenal’s hopes of winning a trophy this season are dependent on Manchester City faltering after finishing as runners-up last year, following consecutive losses to Aston Villa and Bayern.

While more than £200 million was spent on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurriën Timber last summer, there have been indications of improvement. However, the team’s owner, Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE), understands that Arteta’s team requires substantial reinforcement to advance.

Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle, is reportedly one of the main targets. Before moving to St James’ Park in August 2022 for an initial £63 million, Arsenal thoroughly scouted him and estimated that he may cost up to £100 million.

Viktor Gyökeres, Isak’s Sweden colleague, has also been strongly linked to Arsenal. Gyökeres joined Sporting in Portugal last year from Coventry and has scored 36 goals so far this season.

He has an £86 million buyout clause. Another option would be the striker Dusan Vlahovic of Juventus and Serbia; however, it’s thought that Arsenal’s interest in Brentford’s Ivan Toney has cooled.

Michael Olise of Crystal Palace, who turned down Chelsea and in August signed a new four-year contract, is reportedly a possible target for Arsenal after making just nine Premier League starts this season due to injury.

There is a release clause in the France Under-21 forward’s contract that is expected to be worth around £65 million and will take effect in the summer. In addition, Manchester United, Manchester City, and others are keeping a close eye on him.

While Arsenal must be careful not to violate the Premier League’s sustainability and profitability regulations, Josh Kroenke, the non-executive director, is anticipated to provide Edu, the team’s sports director, with a budget that is comparable to that of the previous year.

As a result of the success of its several teams in a number of sports, including the Denver Nuggets basketball team, who won its first NBA title last year, KSE announced a £2.3 billion rise in its worth over the previous year.

Arsenal wants to bounce back from their challenging week by supporting Arteta’s team. The players were saddened by their 1-0 loss to Bayern in the second leg, according to captain Martin Ødegaard, and they will need to channel that grief into energy when they play Wolves on Saturday.

“It takes some time to get going again, but I believe the motivation we have in the league is sufficient for all of us,” Ødegaard remarked. Thus, all we need to do is remain together, get back up, and keep moving forward. There is still plenty that we can do. It seems like plenty motivation to me.
