Pundit left in disbelief by Alisson Becker’s actions during Liverpool’s loss

Liverpool lost to Crystal Palace on Sunday, and Neil Lennon said he has never seen anything like one sequence involving Alisson Becker.

The Reds’ chances of winning the Premier League have been severely damaged. On a day when Liverpool missed so many fantastic opportunities, an early goal from Eberechi Eze turned out to be the lone difference.

Liverpool was having a bewildering afternoon. It might have been worse, though.

A Liverpool player stuns a BBC analyst during Crystal Palace’s defeat.

And just when Liverpool began to get desperate in their pursuit of an equalizer, Alisson Becker produced a spectacular stop from Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Mateta appeared to have an easy task in the second half, as he was only a few yards out, to put the Eagles ahead 2-0. However, Alisson managed to get something on the ball to prevent it from going into the net.

Additionally, Neil Lennon stated on BBC Radio Five Live that the Brazilian’s save had left him speechless.

“Oh my goodness. I’ve never seen anything like that. Alisson puts a big arm out and he saves it. Alisson has just kept Liverpool in the title race,” he said.

Alisson Becker’s Jerzy Dudek moment falls short of spurring a comeback.

Lennon would argue that the save was unlike anything he had ever seen. However, it may have reminded people of Jerzy Dudek from the Champions League championship game 19 years prior. Naturally, Dudek managed to thwart Andriy Shevchenko’s close-range blow.

That appeared to be the confirmation that Liverpool would have the night in Istanbul on that particular occasion. Sadly, Sunday was not going to be a heroic day at the opposite end of the field.

Not long later, Curtis Jones would blow a fantastic opportunity. And that would turn out to be Liverpool’s afternoon’s narrative.

Liverpool produced more than enough to overcome Manchester City and move back above the halfway mark.

It wouldn’t be shocking if this setback turned out to be the turning point in Liverpool’s league season, considering how this championship fight has been fought.
