Irving to LA is about complete. Even if the Nets and Lakers are still debating how things should be done, the day is getting closer when the $36.9 million player will arrive in Los Angeles.
Both teams in the Eastern and Western Conferences are still very interested in signing the 30-year-old point guard. If rumors are to be believed, the Dallas Mavericks and the Philadelphia 76ers are among them.
However, the ball-dominant players on those teams, like Luka Doncic and James Harden, may interfere with his style of play. Furthermore, no club that was vying for a title would take a chance on having that annoying player who was upset about his performance.
The seven-time All-Star has also made it very evident where he wants to live and play, and if his team hasn’t started to conduct due diligence, he has taken a significant step in that direction.
Kyrie Irving has bought a $3.7 million property in Los Angeles.
After their early elimination from the 2022 Playoffs in the first round, Irving began to sow the seeds of who he wishes to play with. He began that by complimenting LeBron James, his former colleague with the Cavaliers, about whom he had little anything positive to say since he moved to Boston in 2017.
When he extended his opt-in for his final year of the Nets deal, that ploy gained significant momentum and everyone in Brooklyn was on edge. By the time he chose to participate, he had made it quite evident that, if not this season, he wanted to be in Los Angeles next.
He has now taken a much more significant action that further clarifies his desire. According to rumors, he purchased a $3.7 million property in Los Angeles on Saturday.
However, that does not imply that the agreement is finalized. All of this may still go wrong if the Nets can still find a better way to get better in return and if a team is prepared to take a big gamble to sign Kyrie for a single season.
