LeBron James Defies Age with Stellar Performance for Lakers

Lakers: LeBron James says he doesn't 'have much time left' in the NBA

Despite nearing 40, LeBron James continues to defy expectations with his remarkable play this season. The Los Angeles Lakers icon, though showing hints of gray in his beard, resembles a player in his prime. Averaging 25.4 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game, James shows no signs of slowing down, despite concerns over his workload.

Last season, doubts arose as James battled injuries, raising questions about whether Father Time had caught up with him. However, it’s now evident that much of his struggles stemmed from a foot injury that plagued him for months, only fully healing after the playoffs concluded.

The key difference in James’ performance this season lies in his efficiency. Shooting an impressive 53.3% overall and 41.6% from beyond the arc, a significant improvement from last season’s 32.1% three-point shooting. James attributes this improvement to the alleviation of his foot injury, allowing him to dedicate more time to refining his shot.

In a recent statement to Lakers Nation, James emphasized the importance of consistent practice, crediting his increased floor time for enhancing his game. His dedication to honing his craft is evident in his pre-game routines, where he meticulously works on his skills.

“I’ve been able to be on the floor a lot more during non-game days. My foot has felt a lot better, I didn’t have much time to really rep a lot last year because I had to make sure that I could be on the floor running around or putting much pounding on the floor for my foot. I’ve had a lot of opportunity to get on the floor (this year). You guys see me before every game out on the floor working on my game, working on my craft. So that has helped out a lot too. Just try to stay consistent with my shot. Same shot every time and just work. Work, work, work, work, work.” – Lebron James
