In a dominating performance, LeBron James showcased his all-around brilliance with a triple-double, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a commanding 136-124 win against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night.

The win marks the Lakers’ fifth consecutive triumph, positioning them just 2 1/2 games behind the sixth spot in the competitive Western Conference standings, thereby avoiding a play-in game scenario.

Despite missing Anthony Davis, who sat out due to a left knee hyperextension sustained in the previous game against Milwaukee, the Lakers displayed resilience and depth, with D’Angelo Russell adding 23 points and Taurean Prince chipping in with 15.

For Memphis, Desmond Bane led the scoring with 26 points and 16 assists, supported by Jake LaRavia’s 25-point effort, particularly impressive with 14 points in the fourth quarter. However, the Grizzlies struggled to contain the Lakers’ offensive firepower, suffering their sixth loss in seven games.

The Lakers asserted their dominance early on, maintaining a solid shooting performance throughout the game, leading 69-61 at halftime. A strong start in the third quarter saw Los Angeles extend their lead to 27 points, but Memphis rallied back with a 21-4 run to narrow the deficit entering the final quarter.

Despite the Grizzlies’ spirited effort, the Lakers maintained control, preserving their double-digit lead through the majority of the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

The return of Brandon Clarke provided a morale boost for the Grizzlies, with the forward making his comeback after a lengthy absence due to a left Achilles injury suffered in 2023. Clarke contributed six points in nearly 21 minutes of play.
