Liverpool experienced an extremely unfortunate match against Man City . Coach Jurgen Klopp’s team wasted many opportunities, thereby accepting points with a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool fans thought that the home team should have had more than 1 point. The reason is because in the last minute of ιnjury time of the second half, Doku seemed to have a high-footed situation with Mac Allister in the Man City penalty area. However, after listening to advice from the VAR referee team, referee Michael Oliver still decided not to give Liverpool a penalty.

Situation where Doku collides with Mac Allister

As noted by Sport Bible and Talksport, many Liverpool fans were extremely angry with the above decision of the referees: “It was really shоcking that the referee did not give Liverpool a penalty; looking at the ball, it was like Doku performed a karate kιck on Mac Allister’s chest. But then for some reason, the referee did not take any punishment against this player; Liverpool was blatantly robbed of the penalty.”

Legend Gary Neville also commented on the above situation. The former MU player said that Doku was really lucky not to be penalized by the referee. 

According to television cameras, coach Jurgen Klopp was quite upset. He decided to approach the referees at the end of the match to confront the situation where Liverpool did not receive a penalty.

Only getting 1 point against Man City caused Liverpool to lose the opportunity to reclaim the top spot in the Premier League from Arsenal. Liverpool currently has the same 64 points as Arsenal, but “The Kop” is only ranked second with a poor goal difference (+39 compared to +46).
