Inside Klopp’s new ‘retired’ life: A ‘family paradise’ for his wife and kids

Jurgen Klopp spent £3.4 million on a property on the Balearic island of Mallorca, where he is building “an ecological family paradise.”

With two years remaining on his contract, the Liverpool manager shocked the football world on Friday by announcing he will depart Anfield in May after nine seasons.

The 56-year-old Klopp intimated he might never be able to succeed in football again and gave as his reason for the decision that he was “running out of energy.”

The German was evasive when asked about his plans after leaving Liverpool, but he could very well retire to his Mediterranean villa if he decided to take a break from the game or give it up completely.

Mark Lawrenson, a pundit and former Liverpool defender, thinks that Klopp and Ulla intend to move to Mallorca.

It’s not a big sеcrеt, but I’m not sure if I should tell you that. Off the Ball was informed earlier this week by Lawrenson that he was having a mansion built in Mallorca.

“I live not too far from the location where he is constructing his house.” In that regard, Ulla, his spouse, is in command of everything. Klopp stated, “The bloody thing’s not even ready yet, and I’m paying all the bills!”

I would thus guess that he will withdrаw there for a while.

For €4 million (£3.4 million), Klopp bought the 5,000-square-meter Mallorca house from Swiss businessman and artist Rolf Knie in June 2022. Klopp intends to restore the entire property.

As per Bild, Klopp has converted the villa into an energy-efficient home with linked HVAC and heating systems.

A computer controls the two systems to guarantee that the inside temperature of the house stays constant, irrespective of the external weather conditions.

Bild goes on to sаy that a central system controls all appliances and electrical gadgets, and Klopp can operate it from his phone.

Up to 75% less electricity is expected to be used with this setup, and a brand-new, cutting-edge irrigation system is built to know when it needs to be used.

The same firm that created the garden of British billionaire Richard Branson’s hotel, the “Son Bunyola,” will be doing the landscaping work on the property.

It is known that when Klopp travels to the island, he sleeps at a neighboring hotel, but after the renovations are finished, that will no longer be the case.

Lawrenson stated that even if construction is still ongoing, the wait will be well worth it.

“It’s not a nice gaff; it’s an absolutely fabulous gaff,” I can sаy with certainty. “It’s extraordinary, it’s really that good,” Lawrenson continued.

After nine incredibly successful years at Anfield, where he won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, Klopp’s departure has shocked the Premier League.

“I will leave the club at the end of the season,” Klopp stated in a video statement that Liverpool posted on Friday.

“I know that hearing this for the first time can be shоcking for many people right now, but I can definitely explain it, or at least try to.”

The fact is, I’m, how shall I put it, exhausted. Naturally, I have no issues at all right now. I have known for a while that I will eventually need to make an announcement, but for now, everything is perfect.

“I am aware that I am unable to perform the task repeatedly.”
