Celtics Crush Warriors in Record-Breaking Victory
The Boston Celtics showcased their dominance once again as they secured their 11th consecutive win by overwhelming the Golden State Warriors with a resounding 140-88 triumph. This 52-point victory stands as the third-largest margin of victory in Celtics history, marking a remarkable feat in the team’s storied legacy.
Setting an unprecedented milestone in NBA history, the Celtics became the first team to secure three victories by a margin of at least 50 points within a single season. Prior to their spectacular win against the Warriors, Boston had convincingly defeated the Indiana Pacers and the Brooklyn Nets by 51 and 50 points, respectively.
The game started on a competitive note, with the score tied midway through the first quarter. However, Boston swiftly shifted the momentum in their favor with an astonishing 61-17 run, establishing a franchise-record 44-point lead by halftime.
Guard Jaylen Brown emerged as a standout performer, notching 29 points in a mere 22 minutes of play, while All-Star Jayson Tatum celebrated his 26th birthday by contributing 27 points to the team’s victory. Payton Pritchard made a significant impact off the bench with 19 points.
In a post-game statement, Warriors forward Draymond Green revealed the team’s defensive strategy to let Jaylen Brown take shots, implemented just minutes before leaving the locker room. However, this tactic proved ineffective, prompting Green to acknowledge, “It didn’t work. Oh well. We move on.”
Brown expressed his disdain for the Warriors’ defensive approach, labeling it as disrespectful. Meanwhile, Warriors’ star Steph Curry endured a challenging game, scoring a season-low four points on a 2-of-13 shooting performance. The nine-time All-Star was benched for the entirety of the second half, marking his lowest-scoring game since the 2021-22 season.
Despite the defeat, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr remained optimistic, stating that he wasn’t concerned about the loss. The TD Garden continues to serve as a fortress for the Celtics this season, boasting an impressive home record of 29-3 and an overall record of 48-12.
As for the Warriors, they currently occupy the ninth spot in the Western Conference with a 33-29 record. Looking ahead, the Celtics are set to face off against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, while the Warriors will return home to host the Milwaukee Bucks on the same day.
