LeBron James Hoping For Insane 3-Year New Contract With LA

Currently the oldest player in the National Basketball Association, LeBron James, a combo forward for the Los Angeles Lakers who has won 20 championships, is hoping to continue his career into the season that would be his age 42.

At the end of this summer, the 6’9″ superstar has the opportunity to opt out of the final year of his current contract, which is for 2024-25 and is worth $51.4 million.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who has been covering James since his high school days at St. Vincent-St. Mary in Akron, has reported that James is aiming to stay in Los Angeles in order to (probably) finish up his career in a lucrative fresh deal. Windhorst has been covering James since his high school days.  James’ mileage to this point (bearing in mind that he has appeared in an NBA Finals for half of his finished seasons to this point, and that he has also experienced deep Conference Finals campaigns in two other seasons) has not actually prevented him from being a borderline All-NBA performer yet again.

This is a remarkable accomplishment. He continues to be a startlingly good player well into his dotage (this is Year 21 for him), and he continues to be a top draw at the ticket office with his performances.  His pay has been inadequate for many years. It is possible that it would be beneficial for Jeanie Buss, the owner of Los Angeles, to finally pay the individual who is at the end of the line more than others. This year, James has participated in 51 games and has averaged 25 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.2 rebounds. His slash line is.524/.401/.736 during this season.
