Man Utd Academy and rising stars from Carrington

Carrington has long been rated as one of the best youth training centers in the world and they currently have remarkable young talent.

In October 2022, Manchester United reached a proud milestone, the 85th consecutive year they have included an academy product in their squad. The Red Devils’ current squad also has players who grew up from Carrington such as Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and Scott McTominay.

With their mission, the young coaches here are still working hard to create new gems for the club. Below are 5 young players who are expected to soon advance to the first team in the near future, according to 90min.com.

Joe Hugill, 20 years old, striker

Hugill is currently on loan to Burton Albion (a League One club), and he immediately made an impression at the team. That could be a sign that he will soon return to Old Trafford to play for the first team, because Hugill is the best striker in Man United’s academy for many years.

Hugill used to play for the Man United first team in this pre-season.

During his time with the U18 team, Hugill appeared 24 times and scored 18 goals, helping him quickly move up to the U21 team. There, he made 57 appearances and scored 31 goals. If he performs well during his loan spell, it won’t be surprising for Red Devils fans to see him appear at Old Trafford next season.

Charlie McNeill, 20 years old, striker

Another talented striker for Man United, with 34 goals in 35 matches for the U18 team, then 10 goals in 38 matches for the U21 team. McNeill is on loan at Stevenage (a club playing in League Two) and scored 3 goals in his debut.

McNeil is having difficulty being on loan.

However, McNeill’s momentum has slowed recently. He is still highly appreciated by the teachers at Carrington for his football ability, so this young talent needs to quickly regain his form so that he can be called back by Erik ten Hag next season.

Daniel Gore, 19 years old, central midfielder

This 19-year-old talent has made 67 appearances for the U18 and U21 teams, where Gore had 4 goals for the U21 team along with 5 assists. He has also made two appearances for the first team, playing half an hour in the Carabao Cup win over Crystal Palace earlier this season.

Gore is waiting for a chance to express himself like Kobbie Mainoo.

In the same batch as Kobbie Mainoo, Gore’s impressive performances in Man United’s pre-season matches helped him become a nаme that regularly appears on the bench. Currently, Mainoo is getting more attention, but Gore can completely wait for the opportunity to come to him in the future.

Shea Lacey, 16 years old, attacking midfielder

One of the most notable young players at the Carrington academy right now is Shea Lacey. At just 16 years old, this attacking midfielder has very impressive qualities. He can play versatile on the right wing, left wing, center and is the star of the U18 team.

Lacey is only 16 years old and he could be the future of the team.

In 18 matches here, he scored 5 goals and 5 assists. Many Red Devils fans believe that Lacey will soon be called up to the first team to “test the fire” and can take a position in the main team in the near future.

Omari Forson, 19 years old, attacking midfielder

Omari Forson recently made his debut for the club’s first team by coming off the bench in the FA Cup win over Wigan Athletic. Forson is currently an important player for the U21 team and has the versatility to play well in the middle of the field and on the left.

Forson also played for the first team in pre-season.

While playing for U18, he had 9 goals and 9 assists in 43 matches. After moving to the U21 team, Forson played 36 matches, had 15 goals and 6 assists. Man United’s contract with this young talent will expire at the end of the season and the team’s leadership needs to quickly make a decision to avoid losing him to other clubs.
