PLAYER RANKING: Rasmus Hojlund impresses against Sir Jim Ratcliffe as Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur shine for Spurs in 2-2 draw

In the Premier League match that took place on Sunday evening, Manchester United and Tottenham created a thrilling match that resulted in four goals, and both teams emerged from the match with a point.

In the first three minutes of the match, Rasmus Hojlund scored a goal for the Red Devils by shooting from inside the box. Richarlison then scored a goal for the Red Devils by heading the ball into the back of the net.

After that, Marcus Rashford brought the home team back into the lead with a graceful finish only five minutes before the halftime break, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe was observing the game from the stands with great interest.

In spite of the fact that they had a lot of success in the first half, United was defeated by Spurs’ Rodrigo Bentancur in the very first minute of the second half for a goal that was very devastating.

In this section, player ratings are provided by AADAM PATEL from Mail Sport.

MANCHESTER UNITED (4-3-3)

Onana, Andre, age six

The decision was made to remain in the United team and continue playing for them before departing for Ivory Coast, where his country Cameroon will begin their African Cup of Nations campaign tomorrow. However, despite the fact that he might have potentially come out for the corner kick that Rodriguez headed in, he was unable to prevent Rodrigo Bentancur from finishing the play.

Diogo Dalot, age seven

Not long after United seized the lead early on and made some good deliveries, there was a significant clearance off the line. What a wonderful spectacle!

6-year-old Raphael Varane

A challenging afternoon despite the fact that Son Heung-Min and James Maddison were not available for the Spurs. However, as compared to Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez appeared to have a far more assured presence to accompany him.

Jonny Evans, age four

Bentancur scored the equalizer fifty seconds into the second half, despite the fact that they had a decent first half. Bentancur was able to defeat them with ease. Evans is 36 years old, and that particular scene in the play made him appear to be each and every bit of his age. Just after the hour mark, Lisandro Martinez was given permission to take off.

5 years old Aaron Wan-Bissaka

He was given a red card for taking Brennan Johnson out of the game in the first half, and he perhaps ought to have performed better in the air at the time Richarlison scored. As Spurs dominated possession, they struggled to offer much in the way of offensive threat.

Christian Eriksen (6)

Back in the side after illness and put in a good shift for just shy of an hour before he was replaced by Scott McTominay as Erik ten Hag realised that he had to switch things up, with Spurs dominating after the break. His role off the ball is a worry for United.

Kobe Mainoo (6)

Another impressive showing from the 18-year-old though against the Spurs midfield, this was a real battle and a reminder of the defensive discipline that he needs and that he will surely gain with experience at this level.

Alejandro Garnacho (6)

Relatively quiet display for his recent standards. Perhaps unlucky not to get a penalty after he was dragged down by Destiny Udogie in the first half but delivered a stunning ball for Scott McTominay in added time, only for the Scot to head over when it was harder to miss.

Bruno Fernandes (5)

Unusually struggled to have an impact and a rare game to forget.

Marcus Rashford (7)

An all-action first half where he was initially wasteful but then scored with a wonderful finish for his first goal at Old Trafford since May 2023. Though struggled to get the ball in the second half and was eventually replaced late on for Antony.

Rasmus Hojlund (8)

Scored with an emphatic finish to give United the perfect start. Two goals in two home games now and assisted Rashford for his goal. Booked for delaying a Spurs free kick but United’s best player on the day.

SUBS

Scott McTominay (6)

United looked instantly better when he came on in central midfield in the 58th minute. An impressive half an hour or so but missed an absolute sitter in injury time. One that will stay on his mind all night.

Lisandro Martinez (6)

Showed exactly why United have missed him. They looked much stronger at the back when he replaced Evans in the 63rd minute.

TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1)

Guglielmo Vicario (6)

Has had a brilliant season and did not do much wrong. No keeper in the world would have stopped Hojlund or Rashford’s goals.

Pedro Porro (7)

Caught out a few times at the back but had good battle with Rashford all game. Delivered a brilliant corner for Richarlison’s header and could easily have had another assist when Cristian Romero’s header hit the bar. Solid display, up and down the right flank and was constantly involved.

Cristian Romero (6)

Back in the side as captain after injury. Unlucky with the header that rattled the woodwork but played a top ball from the back that started the move for Bentancur’s equaliser.

Micky van de Ven (6)

Had a shaky start initially on his return but grew into the game and on the whole, formed a decent partnership with Romero before going off in the 89th minute with cramp.

Destiny Udogie (4)

Very fortunate. Could easily have given away a penalty for a clumsy challenge on Garnacho and nearly headed into his own net when there was no danger nearby.

Oliver Skipp (5)

Struggled to get into the game, with just 36 touches but played some good passes. And in fairness, did nothing wrong. Replaced by Radu Dragusin late on.

Rodrigo Bentancur (7)

Booked in the first half for kicking the ball away but scored a wonderful equaliser, gliding through the United box before lifting the ball and finishing superbly past Onana. Dominated in midfield throughout.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (6)

Guilty of taking too long on the ball at times but was constantly involved and crucial as Spurs dominated possession throughout. With 102 touches, he had more than anyone else in the game.

Brennan Johnson (5)

A poor showing. Very wasteful in good positions on a number of occasions and has struggled to match the form that led to Spurs buying him from Nottingham Forest in the first place. Missed opportunity for Johnson, especially with so many of Spurs’ attacking players unavailable at the moment.
