Liverpool and Newcastle United brought a 6-goal match, filled with memorable moments. Here are 5 things that remain.

1. Bitter fruit for Newcastle United

Coach Eddie Howe’s team spent more than 90 minutes figҺting Liverpool. Newcastle were soon pressured and faced many defensive situations from The Kop. In the first minute and 30 seconds, goalkeeper Martin Dubravka’s goal was shaken by Trent Alexander-Arnold’s shot.

Under great pressure, Newcastle United showed a resilient playing spirit. In the 70th minute, the score between the two teams was 1-1 when Alexander Isak scored a valuable equalizer in the 54th minute. 

Liverpool created a ‘tsunami’ against Newcastle. 

Unfortunately, Newcastle’s defense crumbled in the 74th minute when Curtis Jones scored, increasing the score to 2-1. Just four minutes later, Cody Gakpo scored the third goal for The Kop. Newcastle did not give up when Sven Botman scored to shorten the score in the 81st minute.

All hopes of Newcastle United fans were extinguished when Salah completed his double by scoring on the penalty spot in the 86th minute. Sharing with Sky Sports after the match, Eddie Howe said:

The jubilant victory at Anfield Stadium proves that Jurgen Klopp’s team is in extremely high form. Statistics don’t lie. Liverpool launched a total of 34 shots at Newcastle’s goal, 15 of which were on target, bringing in 4 goals.

4. The specter of trauma

Liverpool’s victory was incomplete when Dominik Szoboszlai left the field in the second half due to ιnjury. Sharing after the match, Klopp confirmed that the Hungarian midfielder had a hamstring problem.

Szoboszlai was injured.

” Dominik Szoboszlai has a hamstring ιnjury. We hope his problem is not too serious ,” Klopp told BBC Sport.

Fans certainly do not want to see a scenario where Szoboszlai sits out when Liverpool’s current ιnjury list lasts with the following names: Joel Matip, Thiago Alcantara, Andrew Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas, Stefan Bajcetic….

5. Contrast between Nunez and Isak

Isak tore Liverpool’s net. 

Darwin Nunez contributed an assist against Newcastle, but the Uruguayan striker can make a more significant contribution if he maximizes the opportunities he gets. Liverpool fans repeatedly complained when the former Benfica star appeared ungainly in front of Martin Dubravka’s goal.
