The league’s worst-kept secret is that Lakers star LeBron James wants to play on an NBA court alongside his kid Bronny James.
The elder James has discussed this on numerous occasions, and he even structured his agreement to begin when his son is ready to enter the league. Bronny James will attend USC this autumn before turning pro the following year.
Longtime NBA analyst Brian Windhorst stated on the ESPN program Get Up that James had altered his mind about playing alongside his son, but that he still “really, really” wants it to happen.
This would only be possible if the elder James declined LA’s player option for the upcoming season and chose to sign with the team that selects his son in the draft.
James recently fanned the flames by discussing a fictitious draft in which the Atlanta Hawks selected his kid for the upcoming campaign. It’s possible that James was simply enjoying himself during the off-season, but he’s a highly intelligent and thoughtful man. When he wrote this, he was well aware of what he was doing, and it may indicate that he is considering joining his son’s squad.
If James could play with his son, especially in his final NBA season, it would feel like a dream come true. James stated he might retire after the Lakers were swept out of the playoffs this year, but the majority of the league believes he will return for his 21st season.
It will be fascinating to monitor this story over the course of the next year or two. This could be James’ final season with the franchise if his son is not selected by the Lakers.
