Bayern Munich will sign 17-year-old Australian winger Nestory Irankunda in July.
Since debuted for Adelaide United at 15 in January 2022, Irankunda is one of Australia’s top young talents. He became the second-youngest A-League goalscorer soon after. He appeared 39 times for Adelaide.
Irankunda will join Bayern on July 1, 2024, on a “long-term contract” Bayern said on Tuesday. International transfers can commence in February when he turns 18.
After the formal announcement, Irankunda said, “I am very happy that all the procedures have been completed and are headed to one of the strongest clubs in the world – it is a dream come true.”
Irankunda, from Tanzania, played for U17 Australia and was called up to the national squad in March but has not played.
Jochen Sauer, Bayern youth development director: “Nestory is a quick, strong dribbler and finisher. We trust the youngster to stick your future with us.”
