Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 50th goal of the season as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Shabab 5-2 to advance to the Saudi King Cup semi-finals.
Al-Nassr’s talisman scored his 26th goal of the season as his team dominated the hosts, with Sadio Mane scoring for the first time since September.
Ronaldo received the ball in the box 74 minutes into the game and capitalized, bulleting a shot past the onrushing goalkeeper into the far corner.
It maintains Al-Nassr’s aspirations of winning the competition alive, despite the fact that he hasn’t lifted the trophy since 1990.
They are one of the tournament’s favourites, along with Neymar’s Al-Hilal, and victory would be Ronaldo’s second trophy at Al-Nassr.
Former Premier League players Ronaldo, Mane, and Aymeric Laporte all began their careers with Al-Nassr.
Seko Fofana scored after 17 minutes, but Carlos restored parity seven minutes later.
Al-Nassr dominated the first half with goals from Mane and Abdulrahman Ghareeb, the latter coming on the stroke of halftime.
Ronaldo clinched the victory with a superb goal in the 74th minute, before Al-Shabab equalized in the 90th minute through Hattan Bahebri.
But it was Al-Nassr who had the last laugh. Six minutes into stoppage time, Mohammed Maran scored their fifth goal.
With 16 goals in 15 games, the ex-Manchester United man is presently the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League.
Al-Nassr are second in the Saudi Pro League rankings, but trail Al-Hilal by seven points.
Winning the King Cup ensures qualification for the Asian Champions League, while a top-three league finish would suffice.
