Insider Details Lakers’ Plausible Route to Pairing Bronny and LeBron James in 2024

It’s anyone’s guess whether Bronny James will leave USC after his freshman season. At the very least, the possibility of his entering the NBA draft in 2024 will be an interesting situation to watch.

Even more exciting is imagining a world in which Bronny eventually teams up with his father, LeBron James. If the cards fall in the Lakers’ favor, it’s not a completely outlandish situation.

ESPN insider Bobby Marks recently drew out a breakdown of how the 2024 NBA draft may play out, leading to the younger James landing in Los Angeles, and it may not require as many moving parts as you think.

Marks was asked if he feels a team will choose Bronny to try to entice LeBron to join them, something the source says is improbable. However, he indicated a very feasible possibility in which the Lakers may choose Bronny in 2024.

“Now, what would be interesting here … what happens when we get into the 20s … of course, we’re going to be focused on what happens with that Laker first,” Marks said on NBA Today. “Remember, New Orleans has the Lakers’ first but can defer to 2025 here. So if that pick is at 23 or 24 and the Lakers had that, would they take Bronny James to pair up with his dad?”

If that scenario plays out, it will be one of the most memorable moments in NBA draft history. It would also undoubtedly be the best day of LeBron’s life, since he has frequently envisioned a world in which he gets to play alongside his son.

For what it’s worth, we’re a long way from having a genuine discussion about this. But it’s entertaining to consider. Bronny played his first collegiate game with the Trojans over the weekend, and there’s little doubt that he’ll be watched closely for the rest of the season.
