Anthony Davis and LeBron James Earn Spots on NBA Mid-Season All-Tournament Team

LeBron James, a forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, and Anthony Davis, a center for the Los Angeles Lakers, were both selected to the 2023 All-Tournament Team today.

This honor was bestowed upon them in recognition of their participation in the Group Play and Knockout Rounds of the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament. With an unblemished record of seven wins and zero losses, the pair led the purple and gold to the first ever NBA Cup.

Davis participated in all seven games that were played in the In-Season Tournament for the Lakers. He finished with an average of 23.3 points, 14.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 2.9 blocks in 33.9 minutes of action.

Additionally, he shot 52.5 percent from the field and 79.6 percent from the free throw line. Davis led the Indiana Pacers to victory in the IST Finals on December 9 in Las Vegas. He finished the game with 41 points (16-24 FG, 9-13 FT), 20 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks in a total of 41 minutes played. Out of all the players who participated in the event, the 30-year-old athlete had the most overall rebounds (102) and the second most total blocks (20).

During the course of seven games that were part of the In-Season Tournament, James recorded averages of 26.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.6 steals all while playing 30.7 minutes. Additionally, he shot 56.8 percent from the field and 60.6 percent from beyond the arc. The 38-year-old athlete concluded the seven games with an IST-high plus/minus of +116, which earned him the title of Most Valuable athlete of the In-Season Tournament for this year. He also made more field goals (67) than any other player during the course of the tournament.

The Los Angeles Lakers will pay tribute to both Davis and James as they celebrate their victory in the In-Season Tournament Championship before to their game at home on Monday, December 18. Recognizing the first-ever victory in the 2023 In-Season Tournament, the squad will display a one-of-a-kind banner that will add an additional year.
