Opposing star’s return sums up Golden State Warriors’ luck so far this season

With a 10-12 record and the 11th spot in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors have taken a lot of their problems into their own hands this season.

Golden State Warriors v Phoenix Suns

The Warriors’ season has been marred by turnovers and foul trouble, along with some bad luck. Playing just six games against teams now seated in the bottom eight of their respective conferences, they have had one of the most difficult schedules in the league.

Golden State has lost six games on the road by four points or fewer, with one more loss coming in overtime. Many of those losses have been self-inflicted, to be sure, but there’s also a certain amount of luck involved when the margins are so narrow.

The Golden State Warriors’ season is shaping up similarly to Bradley Beal’s anticipated comeback on Tuesday.

The Warriors will meet the Suns on Tuesday night in Phoenix following their overtime loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday. In addition to Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, two of the NBA’s biggest stars, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Bradley Beal is reportedly planning to return to the team soon.

The fact that Booker, Durant, and Beal will make their Suns debut is exciting in and of itself, but the reality that Beal is returning after a 12-game absence and is playing in just his fourth game overall this season adds even more intrigue.

That, coupled with the fact that it occurred against the Warriors, very much sums up the team’s disappointing season thus far. So far this season, Phoenix has won both games versus Golden State. Looking on the bright side, this may be seen as an opportunity to get even.

It may take time to work a player of Beal’s caliber into the starting lineup. Having him handle the ball instead of Booker or Durant may benefit the Warriors and any team the Suns face in the next two weeks, at least in the near term.

Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal

Phoenix hasn’t exactly been a scary team this year, and that’s saying something considering how brilliant Booker and Durant are. They have a 12-10 record and are in seventh place in the West. However, they have only won five of their eleven games played at Footprint Center.

It seems natural that Booker, Durant, and Beal make their debut against the Warriors given the way the season is going, since they form one of the most dangerous scoring trios in the game. But in their pursuit of regaining their footing and gaining momentum, Golden State will undoubtedly welcome the challenge.
