According to reports, Manchester United and Liverpool have joined the competition to acquire the services of Joao Palhinha, a midfielder for Fulham.
During the summer, it appeared as though the Portugal international, who had joined the club from Sporting Lisbon in 2022, was going to leave the club permanently.
Before the deal fell through on the last day of the transfer window, Bayern Munich appeared to be on the verge of landing his contract. However, the trade was ultimately unsuccessful.
Following his decision to remain at Craven Cottage, Palhinha has gone on to make a total of twelve appearances in the Premier League this season. He has scored in matches that ended in a draw against Arsenal and Brighton & Hove Albion.
In spite of the fact that he is still a consistent member of the Fulham squad, Palhinha is still being discussed in connection with a possible departure prior to the January transfer window.
According to reports, Arsenal are mulling over the possibility of making a move for the 28-year-old player, however it is not yet clear whether Bayern will offer a winter transfer.
One school of thought, on the other hand, maintains that the Gunners will not pursue a move until the conclusion of the 2023–24 season.
Man United and Liverpool, two of Palhinha’s adversaries in the Premier League, are reportedly planning to enter the competition for his signature, as reported by TEAMtalk.
There is a widespread belief that the Red Devils are looking to acquire a new midfielder, and it has been stated that the club is willing to trade Casemiro.
Donny van de Beek is also scheduled to leave Old Trafford in the new year, and a decision has not yet been made on whether or not the loan move of Sofyan Amrabat will be converted into a permanent deal.
While this was going on, Liverpool made significant changes to their midfield department during the summer by acquiring players such as Wataru Endo, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, and Ryan Gravenberch.
In spite of the fact that Jurgen Klopp has access to a number of alternatives in the center of the field, Liverpool is continuing to keep an eye out for possible targets, particularly in light of the fact that Thiago Alcantara’s contract is scheduled to expire until June 2024.
After Bayern Munich came close to reaching an agreement on a transfer fee of about sixty million pounds to acquire Palhinha during the summer, it could take a comparable number to convince him to leave Craven Cottage.
Palhinha is now under contract with Fulham until at least 2028, having signed an extension in September. However, there is some fear that Fulham might increase the sum that they are considering asking for him.
During the time that the Cottagers Fulham are making preparations for the possibility of Palhinha leaving, it is thought that they are considering Andre, a midfielder for Fluminense, as a potential replacement.
