The Golden State Warriors’ incredible performance in Game 7 has left Steph Curry the talk of the basketball world.
The point guard led his club to a 120-100 victory over the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference playoffs. He also set a league record for the most points in a Game 7 with a playoff career-high 50 points.
Curry’s outstanding performance prompted a reporter to pose the query, “Who can stop Steph Curry?”
The reply was a sly smile and “Hopefully we never find out.”
The 35-year-old postgame star was praised by several early on, including Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
After the game that sealed the series, he observed, “You just have to remind yourself every once in a while, big picture, this is one of the greatest players in the history of the game.”
That’s how I used to feel when I played alongside Michael Jordan. Being the first player to score fifty in a Game 7 is an incredible feat for Steph.
After Curry’s incredible performance, renowned ESPN reporter Stephen A. Smith had similar things to say about him.
“It’s time to have the conversation about whether or not this guy is the best point guard in history,” he stated.
In a historic performance that also ignited NBA Twitter, Curry shot 20–38 from the field and 7–18 from beyond the arc to put the game away.
With the defending champs’ poor road performance this season, the superstar spearheaded an incredible comeback in the series after falling behind 2-0.
“It’s incredible that you’re still in the game,” Curry remarked. Better than the alternative of peering in from the outside. You don’t take anything for granted after losing this series 0–2. Nothing was assured.
Speaking after the record accomplishment, Curry’s teammate and fellow “Splash Brother,” Klay Thompson, said: “What an incredible performance.” I will always remember this Game 7 as the Steph Curry game.
Draymond Green of the Warriors continued, saying that “rare players do rare things when you have rare situations.” Tonight, Steph Curry was that. He was truly remarkable.
“You can tell there aren’t many defenses in the world that can stop him when he’s locked in and laser-focused.”
“When the Warriors needed superstar Steph Curry the most, he put the team on his back and led them to a 120-100 win over the Kings,” Earvin Magic Johnson tweeted. 50 points, eight rebounds, and six assists made this one of his best games to date!
Kevon Looney pulled down 21 rebounds as well for the Warriors, who had to win two games away from home.
After trailing 58-56 at the half, the Warriors scored 42 points over the Kings after holding them to a 13-4 start in the second half.
