Short-handed Nuggets overtake Clippers in 4th quarter

November 28 – Reggie Jackson scored 35 points and 13 assists and DeAndre Jordan scored 21 points and 13 rebounds to help the short-handed Denver Nuggets beаt the host Los Angeles Clippers 113-104 on Monday in familiar surroundings.

Two former Clippers filled in for Nikola Jokic (back), Aaron Gordon (heel), and Jamal Murray (hamstring) for the Nuggets. Second-time MVP Jokic missed his first game of the season.

Without Murray, Justin Holiday and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 12 points and Michael Porter Jr. grabbed 10 boards for the Nuggets, who improved to 6-5 since Nov. 6.

Jackson scored 30 points for the first time since the Clippers’ 2021-22 season.

The Clippers had won four of five games before Kawhi Leonard scored 31 and Ivica Zubac added 23 and 14 rebounds.

Russell Westbrook had 14 points and 11 rebounds and James Harden added 11 for the Clippers, who couldn’t overcome Paul George’s 2 of 13 shooting night and 6 points. The Lakers are 4-7 since acquiring Harden from the 76ers.

With 7:28 left in the fourth quarter, the Nuggets led 92-90 following Jackson’s short-range basket. They had trailed 88-77. Jackson scored five points in the spurt.

Leonard’s floater got the Clippers within 94-93 with 6:31 left, but they didn’t score again until 1:13 remaining, when Leonard had a layup to cut Denver’s advantage to four.

The Clippers opened a six-point lead in the first quarter and led 42-31 with 9:03 left in the half, set to capitalize on the Nuggets’ absences. Denver embarked on a 12-0 run to lead by one at halftime, 58-56.
