Nikola Jokic may join a new generation of NBA greats after these playoffs. The two-time MVP dominated the Timberwolves, Suns, and Lakers, tearing up the Western Conference and changing NBA analysts’ minds.
Additionally, Jokic has little in common with many NBA superstars. He rarely talks about himself and doesn’t appear to enjoy all the attention around LeBron James and the Lakers.
A unique ritual for Jokic is wearing his wedding ring on his shoe during games. Jokic spends the offseason in Serbia with his family, and even when he’s racking up triple-doubles in the playoffs, he focuses on them.
Why does Nikola Jokic wear his wedding ring on his shoe?
Jokic is married and adores his wife. Many players in loving marriages don’t wear their wedding rings on their shoes on the court. How did the two-time MVP establish this tradition?Jokic says he received the concept from a Serbian teammate and ties the ring to his shoe to keep his family close. A wedding ring would be unsafe during a basketball game, yet Jokic keeps it on him at all times. He claimed that former Cavaliers guard Matthew Dellavedova did the identical feat in 2017, but not in an NBA game.Whatever Jokic does works. He has two MVPs since marrying his wife in 2020 and is two wins away from an NBA title after leading the Nuggets to their first NBA Finals appearance and going through the Western Conference.
Nikola Jokic wife
Jokic married Natalija Macesic in Serbia on Oct. 24, 2020. Their daughter Ognjena was born in September 2021.
The couple has been together more than three years. After Jokic joined the Nuggets in 2015, Macesic relocated to Denver alongside him. They met as adolescents in Sombor, Serbia.
When they went to Denver, Jokic and his partner resided with his brothers. Macesic, the Jokic brothers, and now Ognjena often support Jokic during Nuggets games.
Jokic hopes to take his family back to Serbia permanently after his career, and he already spends part of his offseason there. Despite his desire to live quietly, Jokic may find it difficult to leave the spotlight if he wins a championship and builds an NBA legacy with the Nuggets.
