It is Shaquille O’Neal’s contention that he was solely responsible for the dissolution of his marriage to his ex-wife, Shaunie.

The pair filed for divorce in 2011, citing “irretrievable breakdown” as the cause for their decision. This came after they had been married for five years and had four children. On the edition of The Pivot Podcast that aired on Tuesday, the former Lakers player admitted that he was personally responsible for the demise of their relationship. “I’m delighted you guys asked because I don’t mind talking about this, but I was horrible,” O’Neal said. “It just so happens that you asked.” She was just incredible. Certainly, she did it. It is entirely my fault.

The NBa great did not wish to delve into the intricacies of “what I was doing” that led to their breakup; nevertheless, he did consent to the fact that “I wasn’t protecting her and protecting those vows.” In the event that you are leading a double existence, it is unavoidable that you will be caught.

I won’t hold it against her because it was entirely my fault. On the other hand, O’Neal went on to say that Shaunie had put in a lot of effort to keep the marriage together prior to the divorce, but that he had not done anything to repay the favor that she had shown him. 

From providing me with lovable children to managing the household and the business affairs, she fulfilled all of the expectations that were placed upon her. “I did it entirely on my own,” he declared unequivocally. 

The statement that she made was, “When you make a lot of mistakes like that, it is difficult to recover.” At the end of the day, he summed it up by saying, “She was incredible, she really was.” It is entirely my fault.

Despite this, he asserts that things have improved between them after the breakup, and that they are once again cordial and able to work together as co-parents. He also claims that they are able to work together. In February of 2020, Shaunie and Pastor Keion Henderson launched their relationship, and they have just recently made the announcement that they are engaged.

In her interview with the publication, she expressed her elation by saying, “This love is FOREVER, and I am honored and overjoyed to do forever with him.” Over the course of the podcast, O’Neal expressed his happiness that his ex-girlfriend had at long last found happiness. My heart is overflowing with joy for her since she is about to marry a great young man.
