Months after the Boston Celtics moved All-Star point guard Kemba Walker to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Brookline house belonging to Walker has sold.
According to documents made public this week by the Norfolk County Registry District of the Land Court and in an Instagram post by Samantha Stumpo, the founder of Newbrook Realty, the 9,592-square-foot Brookline mansion at 37 Sears Road closed for an undisclosed amount on October 26. Stumpo has since sold the property twice.
Over many months, a number of sources in Boston’s residential real estate market informed Boston.com that a private sale was being considered.
Walker was originally traded to the Thunder, but the Thunder bought out his contract in August, therefore he ended up with the New York Knicks.
The property was developed by Cindy Stumpo and her team at C. Stumpo Development. Although it was not listed on the public market, there are rumors that the agreed-upon selling price exceeded the $11.25 million that Walker paid for it in 2019.
According to marketing materials from 2019, the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom home has a paneled library, a palatial primary suite, four en-suite bedrooms with 14-foot tray ceilings, a 22-foot custom iron entry doorway, and a custom double bridal iron staircase. Additionally, two years ago, the property was advertised as having “estate expansion potential” and “secluded living.”
When Boston.com reached Samantha Stumpo on Friday night, she refused to speak, and when Cindy Stumpo was contacted, she did not answer. A request for feedback from representatives of their respective firms was also met with silence.
However, there has been a surge in the selling of athlete homes in the region, and the Walker house sale is the most recent.
Al Horford, the center-forward acquired by the Celtics from the Thunder in the June Walker deal, has moved into a different Stumpo house close to the Sears Road property.
However, the most well-known transaction took place on Walker’s side of the Country Club at the end of the previous year. Similar to the Walker purchase, Tom Brady’s 12,112-square-foot house at 112 Woodland Road went off the market. Brady’s house sold for $33.9 million when it was last listed, however that information was also withheld.
