This achievement was a first of its kind. James had already established himself as the NBA’s all-time leader in scoring.

James was able to reach the milestone by making a three-point shot during the first quarter of the Los Angeles Lakers’ 131-99 victory over the Utah Jazz. This was the shot that allowed him to surpass the previous record. Following the completion of the Lakers’ flawless performance in Group Play of the NBA In-Season Tournament, he managed to finish with 17 points in a session that lasted for a total of twenty-four minutes.
