After a dismal start to the 2023–24 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have finally put together a winning streak.
LeBron James has been healthy, which has allowed the Lakers to win games, but their roster is still lacking because Gabe Vincent and Jarred Vanderbilt, two key players, have been out.
Though Los Angeles hasn’t stopped looking around the league to see who’s available, Vanderbilt and Vincent are both making progress with their separate rehabs and should be able to suit up soon. Zach LaVine, an All-Star guard for the Chicago Bulls, may be the most well-known name at the moment.
The Lakers are apparently one of LaVine’s top destinations, but the organization is reportedly losing interest in making a trade for him, according to NBA source Marc Stein:
As Stein points out, the Lakers have reason to think that once the squad is fully healthy, they’ll naturally improve, but the timing of a LaVine deal may not work out given the limits on some of their players.
LaVine seems more like a luxury than a key component of the winning team, but he would undoubtedly help Los Angeles with some of its problems with outside shooting and scoring. The Lakers should wait to make any significant adjustments to their roster until they have had time to observe how depth and consistency work out.
LeBron James claims that occasionally he has to remind people about his play.
Given his age, James’ recent performance has been nothing short of amazing, and he admitted that occasionally he feels the need to remind people of his abilities.
