According to Spanish media, Luka Modric will join the Saudi Pro League after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the current campaign.
Due to the arrival of English sensation Jude Bellingham, the 38-year-old Croatian has seen less playing time.
Prior to this, Modric’s agent made hints that the midfield player had received multiple approaches from other teams.
“There was interest this summer,” he stated. The athlete has received offers from other clubs, including The Capital. Although Modric is presently considering Real Madrid, he might move to the Saudi Pro League if the deal is right.
And now, it appears that Modric will conclude his twelve-year tenure at Los Blancos at the end of the current campaign, per the Spanish media outlet Sport.
Luka Modric has struggled for minutes this season, only starting five times out of 17 games
New signing Jude Bellingham has asserted himself as a starter in the Real Madrid midfield
As the former Ballon d’Or winner nears the end of his career, a multi-million-pound contract in the Saudi Pro League would be too good of an offer to turn down.
Real Madrid have previously stated they are not considering any deals with Saudi clubs.
But, it appears the club will likely allow Modric to leave at the end of the season and not in January as they will look to keep him as injury cover.
A similar proposal by a Saudi club could be made along the lines of former team-mate and Frenchman Karim Benzema.
And given that Modric has only made five starts out of a possible 17 so far this season, it is looking increasingly likely.
