Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone and center Nikola Jokić were ejected during their game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday. In 15:13 minutes, Jokić scored nine points, five rebounds, and five assists.
Malone was called for two technical fouls at 1:21 in the first quarter. Game reporters said officials’ calls frustrated them. The Pistons led 22-21.
Around a quarter later, Jokić joined Malone in the locker room. The two-time MVP was frustrated by his low call count. For arguing about a no-call, referees sent Jokić to an early shower with 1:22 left in the half and Denver leading 51-50.
Not only were Nuggets fans upset, but Detroit announcers also criticized the incident.
Denver has lost three of its last four games and was without guard Jamal Murray due to a hamstring ιnjury. After Jokić was absent, Reggie Jackson (21 points) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (20 points) guided the Nuggets to a 107-103 triumph.
Detroit has the lowest NBA record and a 12-game losing streak.
