Throughout the entire previous season, Dillon Brooks and LeBron James harassed and bullied one other, with Brooks carrying out the most of the teasing. Dillon Brooks mocked LeBron James during the 2022–2023 NBA Playoffs, calling him old and even said he wanted to play him. It was the climax of their arguments. Ultimately, in a series that ended with both teams losing, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers humiliated Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies.
