My dream is to play for Barcelona

The father of Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, Luis Manuel Diaz, confessed to Win Sports TV (via Mundo Deportivo) that his son is a huge FC Barcelona supporter and hopes to play for the team.

When news broke earlier this month that Diaz’s parents had been abducted in Colombia, the whole football community was taken aback.

The Liverpool forward’s father was detained for more than 10 days before officials were able to ensure his safety, but his mother was quickly freed.

After being set free, Luis Manuel Diaz witnessed his son score twice for Colombia in a World Cup qualifying match in Barranquilla against Brazil Friday night.

Following the incident, he conducted an interview in which he disclosed that Diaz is a fan of the La Liga winners and has always wished to play for Barcelona.

The father of Luis Diaz stated, “He (Luis) has not mentioned anything to me about Barcelona yet, but it is true that Luis is a fan of Barcelona and it would be a dream of his to go there.”

In the past, Barcelona showed interest in Diaz.

It should not be forgotten that not very long ago, Barcelona expressed interest in signing Luis Diaz.

In fact, the Blaugrana gave signing the Colombian while he was still at FC Porto substantial consideration during the January 2022 transfer window.

But in the end, Diaz signed a €47 million contract to join Liverpool, while Barça paid €55 million to recruit Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

The Colombian winger had also been the subject of rumors earlier in the season, but nothing more came of it.
