Further accomplishments demonstrate LeBron James’s resilience. The Lakers lost despite the “king’s” strong match.
LeBron James wins another match and milestone. After playing the second match in two days, the “king” exhibited no fatigue and his teammates tied the team record with 3 points.
Hosting the Sacramento Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar did something only one NBA icon has done and moved up on several of the league’s all-time lists.
James scored 28 points (9-17 FG, 7-8 FT) and had 11 assists, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals for a triple-double. The second-oldest NBA player to score a triple-double in a game.
The oldest player to have a triple-double was Karl Malone aged 40 (in 2003), while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers in his final years.
Also, “the king” was on two all-time lists:
– Passed Jason Terry for 8th in 3-pointers with 2,283.
– Tied great PG Jason Kidd for 5th all-time triple-doubles with 107.
Los Angeles Lakers wasted LeBron James’ sublime game
LeBron had his finest game of the season, but the Lakers couldn’t capitalize. LA led by 20 points from the first half and had a 26-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter after a poor start.
After LeBron James scored or assisted 21 points, the Lakers went on a 30-13 run to cut the lead to 9 at 119-110. The Lakers lost 125-110 despite their comeback attempt.
LeBron, Cam Reddish (16 points, 5 steals), and D’Angelo Russell (28 points, 5 assists) played well, but Anthony Davis had a forgettable 9 points, 9 rebounds, and a foul. 35 minutes, 5 turnovers.
Los Angeles Lakers bigman admitted his hip ιnjury was his fault: “I performed too poorly. My reason is missing shots and making too many blunders in losing the ball, not injuries.”
After three consecutive wins, including a walk-off win over the Grizzlies and a club record 22 3-pointers, the Los Angeles Lakers returned to the court after this loss.
