Alejandro Garnacho was selected for Argentina’s September and October training camps. His single appearance was a late substitute appearance in a 3-0 triumph over Bolivia.
This young player is similarly struggling at MU, having not scored or assisted in 10 Premier League and 4 Champions League matches this season. His only goal came in September’s 3-0 English League Cup triumph over Crystal Palace.
Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni blamed Alejandro Garnacho’s bad MU performance for his November exclusion from the national team. Scaloni commented before two crucial matches against Uruguay and Brazil:
Why not summon Garnacho? Because of his poor club performance. He also played few minutes on his last call-up. We must treat all players fairly, but it’s excellent that everyone wants in.”
Lionel Messi is Argentina’s captain, and Scaloni believes the 36-year-old is in terrific form despite playing little for Inter Miami. He said “Even though he didn’t play many matches last month, he still came to us in good form because he is still working hard in training, he is mentally and physically in good shape.”
In November, Raphael Varane left France while Mason Mount, Antony, Anthony Martial, Hannibal Mejbri, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka of MU were not selected for the national squad. Diogo Dalot left the Portuguese team to have his first kid.
