LeBron James’ 108th career triple-double and the Lakers’ fourth-quarter comeback push were overcome by Domantas Sabonis’ 29 points and 16 rebounds as the Sacramento Kings won their fourth straight game, 125-110, on Wednesday.
De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter scored 28 points each to help the Kings end Los Angeles’ three-game winning streak with their sixth win in six games over their downstate rivals. Huerter made six 3s.
James’ first triple-double of his 21st NBA season broke his tie with Jason Kidd for sixth in NBA history with 28 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds.
The Kings have won three straight in Los Angeles, and their top scorers gave them a 26-point lead early in the fourth quarter. The Lakers surprisingly kept their starters in and went on a 30-13 run, but they ran out of time and never got closer than nine.
The Lakers fell at home for the first time in six games despite D’Angelo Russell’s 28 points. In Los Angeles’ fourth game in six days, Anthony Davis scored nine points on 3-of-9 shooting and nine rebounds.
The Kings led 19 points in the first quarter of this game, unlike last month when they beаt the Lakers in Sacramento in overtime. Lakers coach Darvin Ham kept his players in with 11 minutes left as Sacramento led 106-80.
James turned over and missed a 3-pointer on the Lakers’ next two possessions after Cam Reddish’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 119-110 with 3:05 left.
The Lakers’ three-game winning streak, highlighted by their first blowout win of the season Tuesday over Memphis, ended with the setback. The Kings made 16 3-pointers after the Grizzlies made 20. Los Angeles struggled to defend the perimeter.
Davis scored four points in the first four minutes but didn’t score again until the fourth.
