The Lakers faced a challenging situation from the outset, and as the game unfolded, their energy seemed to wane against the Sacramento Kings in their second consecutive night of play.

At a certain juncture, the Lakers found themselves trailing by 26 points early in the fourth quarter, even with key starters such as LeBron James, Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and Cam Reddish on the court, along with sixth-man Austin Reaves.

The Lakers’ previously uplifting three-game winning streak came to an end with a 125-110 loss to the Kings on Wednesday night at the Crypto.com Arena.

Despite a late surge by the Lakers’ lineup on the court, narrowing the gap to nine points with 3:03 remaining on a three-pointer by Reddish, the team faced setbacks with consecutive turnovers on subsequent possessions, contributing to their total of 23 miscues.

LeBron James delivered a triple-double performance with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists, but Anthony Davis had a subpar game with nine points on three-for-nine shooting and nine rebounds.

D’Angelo Russell also contributed 28 points for the Lakers.

The recurring issue of the Lakers falling behind in the first quarter persisted, with their defense faltering and their offense proving only moderately effective. The 20-point deficit in the opening quarter and the Kings shooting at a 53.6% field goal percentage, including 50% from beyond the arc, left the Lakers unable to mount a comeback.

In the 12 games played early in the season, the Lakers have found themselves trailing after the first quarter in eight of those contests.
