The Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies had some first quarter fireworks in Tuesday’s In-Season Tournament contest.
Anthony Davis and Santi Aldama’s tempers erupted around the five minute mark of the first quarter when they tangled. Davis pushed Aldama to the ground, and then there was a brief scuffle between members of both sides. Check out the clip for yourself:
After reviewing the play for several minutes on the monitor, the officials called five technical fouls.
Davis, Aldama, Desmond Bane, and D’Angelo Russell, plus Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins, all received technical fouls.
There are still more than three quarters left in this In-Season Tournament game, so expect some more chippy play as the game progresses. Ja Morant, who is currently serving a 25-game suspension to open the season, reacted to the brawl on Twitter with a simple emoji. Even though four Lakers players have received technical fouls, hopefully no one will be ejected from the game.
Cam Reddish and Marcus Smart ιnjury Updates
Cam Reddish’s departure for the locker room was overlooked amidst the uproar of the figҺt. After that play, Reddish was getting checked out for a possible facial ιnjury. However, he has been released and is now sitting on the bench.
Minutes after the figҺt, Smart had to be helped off the court with an apparent ιnjury. I really hope the ιnjury isn’t as severe as it seems.
