In Tuesday’s In-Season Tournament game, the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies had some first-quarter pyrotechnics.
Around the five-minute mark of the first quarter, Anthony Davis and Santi Aldama were entangled. Davis ended up shoving Aldama to the ground, sparking a brief brawl between players from both teams. Check out the video for yourself:
The officials looked at the monitor for a few minutes before calling five technical fouls on the play.
Davis, Aldama, Desmond Bane, and D’Angelo Russell were all given technical fouls, as was Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins.
Ja Morant, who is currently serving a 25-game suspension to begin the season, responded to the incident on Twitter with a simple emoji: We still have more than three quarters to go in this In-Season Tournament game, so expect some more chippy play as the game progresses. With four players receiving technical fouls, let’s hope there aren’t any ejections – at least not from the Lakers.
Injury Updates on Cam Reddish and Marcus Smart
Cam Reddish slipped to the locker room beneath the radar during the pandemonium of the scuffle. Reddish was injured in the face and was sent to the hospital after that play. He is, however, back on the bench and cleared to play.
Smart was carted off the court with an apparent injury sustained just minutes before the scuffle. Let’s hope the injury isn’t as severe as it appears.
