Miami Heat play Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night in North Carolina.

Jimmy Butler raised the NBA scoring record throughout the contest.  

Butler entered the night with 13,836 career points, surpassing Chuck Person (13,858) for 193rd. 

Butler will pass to Marques Johnson (13,892) after Person. 

Butler scores 18.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.4 steals a game while shooting 42.2% and 47.1% from three. 

The Heat tie for the Eastern Conference third seed after going 6-4 in their first ten games.   

They’re оn a five-game winning streak and beat the Spurs 118-113 оn Sunday in Texas. 

Butler had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block in 37 minutes. Miami has reached the NBA playoffs four times under Butler, who is in his sixth season. 

Last season, they reached the NBA Finals for the second time in three years but lost to the Nuggets in five. 

After the Hornets, the Heat play the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday in Florida. Butler played with the Bulls, Timberwolves, and 76ers in addition to the Heat. 

He is a 13-year NBA veteran and six-time All-Star.
