Yet, even with his new team, Durant faced setbacks. The Suns had a disappointing postseason for the second consecutive year, resulting in the dismissal of their popular head coach and significant offseason changes. Despite this, the Suns are poised as contenders for the Western Conference title in the upcoming season. However, Curry’s preferences could have altered Durant’s destination.

In a recent interview with The Ringer, Curry was asked about the possibility of reuniting with Durant in the future. While confirming they had conversations, it aligns with rumors indicating the Warriors’ interest in Durant before his trade to Phoenix.
“There was probably a sense of excitement or wonder, like, ‘Is this really a possibility?’” To be honest, I had talked to him about it a few times, but he wasn’t involved in making decisions, so he couldn’t sаy, “I want to do X, Y, Z.” It seemed like a more natural conversation.
Even though Durant may have been fired because of something one of Curry’s teammates did, Curry says he has never had a problem with Durant. “He didn’t owe me anything,” Curry said. “He made up his own mind about when to leave.”
