Football Espana cited an interview in which the former Spanish footballer discussed a role he had previously desired.
Gerard Pique, a former midfielder for Barcelona, considered running for the club presidency. But he appeared to be considering this matter more carefully now that he was retired.
Pique wants to lead the Barcelona team as president.
When Pique was asked when he will take Joan Laporta’s place in the hot seat, he revealed:
“It’s highly intricate; weighing the benefits and drawbacks, accepting this role will inevitably result in loss. However, I will assist them if I have to because of what the club has done for me. Although I don’t rule it out, I don’t currently have any plans to run for president.
Xavi, who wasn’t playing well, called an urgent “team meeting.”
De Jong brought positive news, but Barca was dejected.
You have to make every choice without considering your own interests or financial gain; it’s a significant sacrifice. Nobody wants to go through what happens when things go wrong. Very difficult. I feel like I owe this club a lot, therefore the commitment is the only reason I would consider it.
