Green scores 28 points in three quarters as Rockets rout Lakers for fourth straight win



Houston (AP)— Jalen Green scored 28 points in three quarters and the Houston Rockets never trailed in a 128-94 win over the Lakers on Wednesday.

Rockets win their fourth straight after losing their first three this season. Four straight wins are their longest streak since late 2021’s seven.

Rockets scored first eight baskets and led 21 at halftime. They kept going after the half and led by 20 midway through the third period before going on an 11-5 run to make it 90-64 with 3 1/2 minutes left.

The Rockets were powered by Jabari Smith Jr. and Jae’Sean Tate’s 3-pointers.

Green scored all of Houston’s points during a 10-5 run that put the Rockets up 99-71 entering the fourth after making 5 of 6 3-pointers. As the game was already decided, most starters, including Green and LeBron James, didn’t play in the fourth.

After missing four games with a concussion, Rui Hachimura scored 24 off the bench as the Lakers lost their third straight. D’Angelo Russell scored 22 and James had a season-low 18 in Los Angeles’ absence of Anthony Davis due to a groin ailment.

The Rockets shot 54.8% (51 of 93) and made 42.4% (14 of 33) 3-pointers. With Davis out, they outrebounded the Lakers 57-34.

After missing the first six games with a leg ailment, Houston’s Tari Eason scored nine points and nine rebounds in his season debut.
